RoxOpt shuts its HYROX analytics after the race organiser’s letters, while the biggest results sites carry on

Ten days after HYROX gave results and analytics sites seven days to delete its data, one recipient has closed its analytics business. HYRESULT, RoxTimes and Hyranking were still publishing results on 25 October.

RoxOpt, one of two platforms known to have received a cease-and-desist letter from HYROX over its race data, has closed its analytics business. When Unbroken Review checked on 25 October, RoxOpt’s website carried a single notice: “RoxOpt is now part of RMR. The RoxOpt analytics product and business have been discontinued.”

The notice adds that the team is “on a new mission to scale the 1:1 coaching experience” and invites visitors to join a waiting list. RMR Training is a HYROX and hybrid-training coaching brand. RoxOpt has not said when it made the change, and the notice does not mention HYROX.

The closure goes further than RoxOpt’s first response. On 14 October it told Hybrid Fitness Media (HFM) that it would “need to pivot on some features”, adding: “Our backbone is still training and that doesn’t change.”

The letters

HFM reported on 14 October that HYROX World GmbH had sent letters to at least eight websites and apps that publish or analyse its race results. They accused the platforms of scraping HYROX’s results database and using its trademark without permission, and gave each seven days to confirm in writing that it had stopped, removed HYROX data and deleted stored copies. Platforms that did not comply would be referred to HYROX’s external lawyers.

Neither HFM nor the5krunner reported when the letters were sent, so the exact deadline is not known. We have found no report of legal proceedings against any platform. HYROX has not named the recipients or commented publicly since its statement to HFM, in which a representative said none of the platforms “have the athlete consents to use their data”.

The other confirmed recipient, the one-person service HyCoach, told HFM in mid-October that it would comply.

Who is still publishing

The larger results sites were still online on 25 October. None has said whether it received a letter.

  • RoxTimes listed 1,260,971 results from 211 races, up from 1,250,574 results from 209 races when we checked on 18 October. It was showing live results from HYROX Tampa and Abu Dhabi. The site describes itself as “an independent HYROX results site” not affiliated with HYROX.
  • HYRESULT, run by HYRESULT GmbH, was still showing athlete profiles, rankings, comparisons and a race simulator, and describes itself as “your source for all HYROX data”.
  • Hyranking was showing live results from Tampa and Abu Dhabi.

One smaller service listed by the5krunner, HYROX Result API, now returns a page saying “This site is no longer available”. It has not said why, and it is not known whether it received a letter.

What it means for athletes

HYROX’s own results site, results.hyrox.com, shows finish and split times but not the comparisons and rankings the independent sites built on top of them. Athletes who rely on third-party sites for their race history should keep their own record of their splits, because the letters demand that stored data be deleted, not just that sites stop updating.
